I participated in another group break with Topher over at Crackin' Wax. This was my second group break with him and was for the 20015 Topps Finest release.
I like the look and design of this Finest release. The cards look even better in hand versus image scans. There are only 111 cards in the set (11 being short prints) and the Mets got four of those slots. Kind of surprised not to see Matt Harvey anywhere in this set.
I did not get much more than a team set with this break. Not a big deal as that is how group breaks go sometimes. This was a charity break, so the proceeds went to good cause.

Zistle Trade #17
This Zistle trade was with user glassnickels.
Not too long before glassnickels sent a trade request, I had purchased a number of 2007 Upper Deck Goudey packs. I found them in the clearance section at a local drug store for $0.75 a pack. I ended up with a few Mets, a number of short prints, and a Ken Griffey, Jr. relic. Griffey was one of my favorite players to collect back in the day and pulling a relic was quite the surprise.
Anyway, glassnickels requested a bunch of these for his set. He offered quite a large number of cards in return when compared to my previous Zistle trades.

I debated leaving off those 1991 Fleer, but I just need one of each Met. They look bad due to their yellow color, but at least they look different.
Some more glorious 1992 cards from Donruss and Score. It looks like Score kept to two basic types of card shots that year. Hitters hitting and pitchers pitching.
I sometimes forget that Carlos Gomez started out with the Mets. He was part of the deal that brought Johan Santana from the Minnesota Twins to Queens.

2014 Topps Chrome Group Break
With 2015 Topps Series One being released next month, I thought what a better time to put up a post featuring some 2014 product.
I also participated in a fantasy league that Alex started last season. It was my first time doing fantasy baseball since something like 2006. I was not any good then, so I expected something similar. Well, I ended in a tie with Alex for first place! He was kind enough to send some Mets my way for my finish that I will show off in a future post, so thank you Alex for the cards! I still have to get a package back out to you for hosting the league and allowing me to participate.

More from eBay
Here are some more cards from my last eBay run. I have auto cards for both David Wright and Zack Wheeler, so I needed some game used relics to complement the auto cards.
A couple more autos...one of the Mets lone 2014 All-Star selection, Daniel Murphy. I still think David Wright was snubbed since his numbers are similar to Aramis Ramirez. Either way, Daniel Murphy deserves to be there.
This card was probably the one I looked forward to receiving the most. With a little copy-and-paste magic, you can see the front and back. The relics are a bit on the small size, but I am not complaining about a Willie Mays relic.

Goodbye Ike and some auto cards...
We are a few weeks into the 2014 season now. I think the Mets are playing better than what most expected out of them. They are playing .500 ball now, so I am happy! There are still improvements to be made, of course. Like, maybe playing all of their games on the road?
Ike Davis is now gone. I was always a fan of his, so I am a little sad to see him go. However, it just never worked out for him in New York. Playing in New York may have been the problem all along as there have been many former Mets players to play better once leaving. I really hope Ike finds his way with the Pirates.

I have been working my way through those recent eBay purchases. The two cards above were part of one purchase that included a handful of various Mets cards. Probably my favorite purchase were the following three auto cards. These three players have bright futures ahead of them.
Noah Syndergaard should be arriving sometime in June and is poised to be part of the Mets future pitching powerhouse. Zack Wheeler has already shown he has the stuff to pitch quite well.
Dominic Smith is just 18 years old, so he has a few years until being MLB-ready, but this first round draft pick could be our first baseman of the future.
