Well, we will continue clearing out my draft posts with another Zistle trade. Sadly, it looks like Zistle will be coming to an end at some point. Some may know and some may not, but Zistle was sued by Beckett, which shall be known henceforth as Dickett. I know, not very creative. Anyway, Dickett thought Zistle infringed on their copyrights by allegedly using their checklists. My guess is that the owners of Zistle had to let it go due to legal fees.
It is a pretty shitty move by Dickett. I purchased their price guides back in the day, but I have not used them for much of anything since then, so I can't really boycott them. I hope anyone who used Zistle or, at the very least, cares about having options in a marketplace decides to boycott.
Back to the trade. This one was another with John. He reached out with an offer. I did not have a problem with said offer, so a quick deal was made.
Matt Reynolds made an interesting piece of history last season. He spent the entire 2015 season in Triple A with the Las Vegas 51's and had yet to make an appearance in the big leagues. We all recall the hoopla of Ruben Tejada, Chase Utley, and the slide which resulted in a broken leg for Tejada.
With an infielder short, the Mets called up Matt Reynolds making him the first modern player to be added in the middle of a series without having major league experience. He didn't get to play in the playoffs and was dropped off the roster for the World Series. He eventually made his MLB debut the following season on May 17, 2016 in place of a scratched David Wright.

Zistle Trade #62: sam383
Next up is another Zistle trade with Dave. This time he reached out looking for a bunch of commons and was patient waiting for my acceptance.
I think the most interesting card, besides Ramon Castro hamming it up on his card, is that Doc Gooden Bowman card. Gooden is shown wearing number 64, but we all know him for his number 16 during his Mets tenure. Gooden did wear number 64 during his first big league camp, but changed over to number 16 once called up, but this card was in 1993. My best guess is that he is either in Spring Training or doing a rehab stint somewhere in the minors on this card.
Like a lot of ball players and their chosen uniform numbers, Gooden was no different in his choices. Along with 16, the occasional 64 with the Mets, and 11 with the Yankees, Gooden chose his uniform numbers based on his birthday (11-16-64).

Zistle Trade #36: Olerud363
This Zistle trade is with Rodrick from the Great White North. Rodrick reached out with a request from some various Topps needs. I know some US-based traders are concerned about doing trades to other countries, but trading with those up in Canada has been pretty easy going.
Rodrick has probably the most complete John Olerud collection (at least that I know of). Check out his collection at Cardboard Corner. Not one John Olerud card was traded during this trade, though.
It looks like to me Donruss stopped caring right around the time they were putting together their 2004 set.
This was my third or maybe fourth trade to Canada. Since then I have done another five or six and once or twice over to Europe. There are some great traders outside of the U.S. that have a hard time finding good trade partners for whatever reason. There is not that many hobby shops left here, but there is probably even less outside of the U.S. Give these collectors another look.

| Hey! It looks like Olerud does make a cameo appearance in this trade! |

Zistle Trade #29
So, here we are before the start of game four of the World Series. It has been a tremendous ride so far this postseason. At the start of the season I said that a successful season would be a playoff run. Well, we made it to the World Series! The Dodgers made it a tough Division Series. I thought the Cubs had our number before game one of the League Series, but we rolled through them with a four game sweep.
Things have not started out too well for the Mets in the World Series, but they have played well. The Royals have just played better. The Mets showed some life in game three and look to continue their swinging ways in game four.
Next up is a nice full sheet of 2003 Topps. This time with Cliff Floyd in an actual Mets uniform.
There wasn't anything too ground breaking here, but still a nice set of cards that fills some holes in my binders!

Zistle Trade #22
Zistle user, BucCollector, reached out to me with a trade looking for some various Pirates and some basketball cards. I generally can not turn down a trade that gets rid of my basketball cards.
Finally, a card that can pretty much sum up the Mets from 1992 to 1995. I guess you can expand that up until 2035 as the Mets will be paying Bonilla a little over $1 million dollars per year due to a contract negotiation with his release before the 2000 season.
I do not mind getting some junk wax oddball cards. We all know what the main sets look like and these are a nice change of pace when dealing with junk wax cards.

Fun fact: the "V. Wells" you see on the above card is the father of former MLB player Vernon Wells. The artist Wells has done numerous pieces of art for many players over the years.

Trade with an Underdog
I have been actively seeking good homes for all of my non-baseball cards. I have pretty much taken care of hockey (only 3 more cards to go!) and have made some progress with the football and basketball cards.
I had a small stack of San Diego Chargers that I was looking for a nice home. I used Zistle to look for some potential trade partners when I found Zach of The Underdog Collector. He was more than happy to take these cards off my hands and sent along some nice Mets cards in return.
Zach also sent over this oversized Dwight Gooden. It was a nice suprise and my first oversized Mets card! Thanks Zach!
Zach blogged about our trade back in October. You can really see how far behind from current time I am on these posts.
Let me know if you would like some football and basketball cards. I saw a couple other blogs offering their unwanted non-baseball cards. I will hopefully be reaching out to those that commented on those posts soon.

Zistle Trade #11
Here is another trade completed through Zistle. This one with user richardsonpilot.
He initiated the trade mainly looking for some Donruss Diamond Kings. He offered some Mets and a handful of other cards I was looking for to complete some PCs I am working on.
Here are the Mets I received:

Zistle Trade #7
Another post. Another Zistle trade. This time I traded with user bjbernier78. He was featured on the Zistle blog as he is out serving in Kuwait.
I believe he initiated this trade looking for some 2013 Topps for his set needs. Among the Mets I received included:
That is another Keith Hernandez (and that stache) with the Cleveland Indians. This trade was actually started after the previous Zistle trade, but I received these cards all the way from Kuwait first.
Here are a couple more modern cards I received as well. Not pictured are a few 2013 Topps Chrome cards.
Juan Lagares was one of the bright spots for the Mets this season. He leads the majors in awesome catches* and deserves some Gold Glove recognition this off-season. He ranks among the top defensive outfielders in the National League and has been earning the praise of many players and coaches throughout MLB. Oh, and that is without having played in as many games as the other top ranking outfielders.
*not an actual statistic

Zistle Trade #6
I am still working through my Zistle trades. Here is one with user ToppsTradeKing.
This trade was not as smooth as all of my other trades I have completed on Zistle. Not being truthful about what you sent, saying you sent the cards out when you really did not, and not following through to correct things is a not cool.
Anyway, I mostly received some junk wax cards. The cards were mostly ones that I used to have back in the day and wanted back in my collection. The Mets related cards I received in this trade were:
Getting Chuck Carr in a Mets uniform was something that eluded me. I saw Chuck play quite a bit when I lived in South Florida and he played for the then Florida Marlins. He played quite well for the expansion Marlins team and even led the National League in stolen bases. He pretty much started to regress after that 1993 season.
I learned of him playing for the Mets (only 16 games, though, from 1990-1991) while he was playing with the Houston Astros in what turned out to be his final year in the majors. He started that 1997 season playing for the Brewers, but was released after he popped out on 2-0 pitch. He missed a take sign which upset the Brewers manager Phil Garner. When confronted, Chuck seemed to channel his inner Rickey Henderson by replying "Chuckie don't play that game. Chuckie hacks on 2-0."
