Zistle Trade #72: SDre31

This next Zistle trade is with Steve.  He was one of my first trades completed on Zistle.  He reached out with a nice trade offer, but I offered back with a nice stack back to him.

I received a bunch of oddball cards from Steve.  Oddball cards can be a little frustrating at times.  Some look cheap and are airbrushed of logos.  Some are nice looking and sometimes beat their flagship release counterpart.  I would say the most interesting one here is the Topps Magazine card.  Although, the cards showing off Keith Hernandez's mustache are pretty sweet.

Topps released a magazine for a few years in the early 1990's.  One would think that there would 9 cards attached in the magazine (you know, since 9 cards fit to a page), but for Topps reasons there were usually just 8 cards.  Towards the end of its run it was decreased down to 4 cards plus one jumbo card.

A couple more oddballs I received were these Denny's cards.  I enjoyed getting these cards as a kid because of the cool holograms.  The cards still hold up well today and always fun to revisit.

Overall, this was an excellent trade with Steve.  I recall our first trade being pretty cool as well, so it is nice to things have not changed.

Zistle Trade #51: Bumfan

Here we are with a second Zistle trade with Adam.  I reached out to this Northwestener to see if he wanted my Seahawks and Sonics cards, along with some other football cards.  I had a decent stack to send, but since we already traded there was not much he had in terms of matches.  Of course, he was doing me a solid by taking those basketball and football cards off my hands, so I had no problem with the number of cards involved.

I received some nice Mets cards along with some great options for my potential former/former future Mets players collection.  I should probably come up with a better name for the collection.

Zistle Trade #46: dmk250

Here is another Zistle trade with user dmk250.  Dean was looking for some Phillies cards and sent back some Mets cards in return.  There were quite a few interesting odd ball cards that I received in this trade.

The above Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry cards are from Baseball Cards Magazine.  They apparently provided cards (those that you had to cut up yourself) in their magazine?  I have gotten a couple of others in box purchases on eBay, but never gave much thought to them.  I like the look of these two cards, though.

Remember those 7-11 coins?  I had a bunch as a kid and wish I held on to them.

These set of next cards have given me an idea to expand my Mets collecting a bit.  There are a handful of Mets players I enjoyed watching, both currently and growing up.  I am thinking of starting a binder of these players that show them throughout their career.  Not trying to collect every card, but maybe a favorite card or two from each year.

Zistle Trade #45 jaysfan46

Here is another Zistle trade to our neighbors of the north.  This time with Leonel.  Most requests I have received are asking for cards of certain teams, players, sets, or brands.  This is the first request specific to Mexican ball players.  Just thought it was strange (in a good way, of course!).

In return, I got a Puerto Rican, a Dominican, and a Floridian.  I will let you figure out who is who.

Zistle Trade #16

This Zistle trade with user jkgrice was a Topps trade.  I offered up some miscellaneous Topps cards for some Mets in return.  A couple of modifications later and we had a trade.

The 1992 Topps set had some decent card photography.  The Hubie Brooks card is a good action shot showing two base runners on the move.

I did not notice this until looking at these scans, but all of these cards (except the last one) show the Mets various home game uniforms.  Other than their colors, the Mets have stayed pretty consistent with their uniforms.

Zistle Trade #15

Here is another trade completed through Zistle.  This one with user pb68.  I sent him some Cleveland Cavaliers and Oakland Raiders for some Mets.

Here are the cards I received in return:

Nicko Riesgo is an interesting card (and a name that rhymes!).  He never appeared in an MLB game as a Met, but had one decent season playing for their single-A Florida league team.  I think that this 1991 Bowman card is noting that accomplishment.

He would make it to the majors with the Montreal Expos in 1991.  His first of only four game appearances was a contest between the Expos and the Mets.  He recorded his only MLB hit off Frank Viola that game.  He would go hit-less in his other three appearances and after that he was pretty much bounced from team to team.  He would never reach the big leagues again.  He would later become a replacement player with the Boston Red Sox in 1995 during spring training while the players were on strike.

Zistle Trade #13

Lucky number 13!  This Zistle trade was with fellow blogger Laurie at LV's TTM autographs and Baseball Cards.

I initiated this trade offering a variety cards that fit her various collections.

Here is what I received in return:

Those 1990 Topps Traded complete my base set Mets needs for 1990 Topps!  I think that is my first Topps base set completed, so far.
